The new Channel 4 documentary shows viewers how hard councils work and is honest and real, funny in places, and dreadfully sad in others.

Louise Neilan, head of external affairs at Southwark LBC has written an article explaining why they chose to work with The Garden on Channel 4 series Council House Britain, “Councils are approached by documentary makers all the time, and often say no. It’s easy to see why: many of us have been bruised by negative media, broken promises, and the exhausting demands of some journalists who expect busy council officers to pander to their every whim”.
